I'm not putting together the connection with conspiracy analysis though.
It's tenuous at best. The connecting link is vote by mail. What's your favorite whackadoodle theory? Mine is the Hungarian Space program:

Houston, We Have a Problem! (Slovene: Houston, imamo problem!) is a 2016 internationally co-produced docufiction-mockumentary film by Slovene director Žiga Virc. The film explores the myth of the secret multibillion-dollar deal behind the United States' purchase of Yugoslavia's clandestine space program in the early 1960s. It is based and inspired by numerous real events and facts, in the ...
Long story short Tito didn't trust Stalin. Yugoslavia became the most prosperous Eastern Bloc country about that time, as I remember. And the Paperclip Nazis were sabotaging the Air Force program so it was the Army that got the goods.

Vote by mail certainly allows a lazier form of voting, and is more susceptible to fraud since anyone with access to your mail could vote on your behalf. That said, whatever shift in participation this may cause will eventually return to a new normal, as the pendulum seeks it's center. Fraud likewise is probably net neutral since people in both parties are as likely to act fradulently.

I accept the decisions Oregon voters have made even if I don't agree with most of them. If when things get intolerable, I'll move. I'm a big fan of states determining their own path forward.

As far as juicy theories, I don't really have one. I suppose I like the theory that the flat earther who died in a rocketry accident didn't really believe the earth was flat, but instead wanted to fund a rocketry hobby from gullible believers.

The hidden vaccine theory has a problem: Vaccine candidates can easily kill you. That's why extensive testing is necessary.

There are some people who have gotten a trial vaccine, but the risk of giving it to important officials is still too high.

My opinion is that the CFR is still 0.3-1.5% (obviously, age and underlying conditions add huge amounts of variance) based on the limited antibody studies available. At 0.3%, given antivirals can have serious side effects limiting the number of people who can take them, avigan or remdesivir need to show >75% efficacy to reopen the economy.

That's also assuming more data comes out supporting reinfection not being possible, or long term effects of infection being mild.

I suspect he meant immunized. With Hydroxychloroquine.

See also https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Basic_reproduction_number. Picking a high R0 can skew the numbers higher. I've seen statistics using >5.0. Less than 1.0 is what is needed.

Reproduction number is naturally dependent on many many factors, what I'm more trying to get at is this needs to be not much more lethal than seasonal influenza. H1N1 was mild, so people acted like nothing happened.

This is several times more lethal, so you need drugs that can cut lethality down to within the same ballpark while not killing you.

My Corona Home - ("Kokomo" Parody Song)

The Beatles - Yesterday (Lockdown Acapella Version)

Maybe these should be in the Benefits thread?

I think that my favorite conspiracy theory is that Barack Obama was born in Hawaii, but claimed to be from Kenya to get into Cornell as a foreign exchange student during momentarily lower transfer standards.

Does it add up?

I have no idea.

I also like the quote "Standardized tests merely measure your ability to take standardized tests."

Arguably college grades merely measure your ability to pass classes.
