A more likely solution is that the car doesn't come to school with me at all, as I'll have no where to put it or work on it if it's not up and running

NO! Don't make me come back down there! I know you can do it!

Do you think I need to put something on the top of this mount to brace the two sides together or not?
Working on the third mount right now, just waiting for the metal to get cool enough for working on it. Might be a tricky one to get on but I'm hoping it'll be solid.

It would stiffen it laterally. That mount resists up & down movement mostly, I'd say - it looks like it's oriented to take torque from the drivetrain.
But it couldn't hurt to stiffen it for sideways too.

I wouldn't worry about any side to side braces on the back mount. The two side mounts will carry most of the load. I believe you were telling me you drove how many thousand miles without one anyhow

I'll probably leave it for now, got other tasks to accomplish. I think I've determined that the ECM power issue is indeed a power issue and not a ground issue. Gonna take a break and eat and hope my headache goes away and try to make a to do list before I head back out to wire stuff up.
Third mount is basically done, just need to weld it to the car, which I'll probably leave for tomorrow when I can see better.

Yeah, if you want to longitudinally brace that mount, a tab across the top of it will do fine.
I wouldn't worry too much about it, though. What you'll really want to do with your custom mounts is periodically check them for stress cracks, etc... once you determine where/if the failure points are, you'll be able to properly reinforce them.
How far did you get tracing that wire?

If the ECU works when you run a +12V wire to it, then run a wire to it for now, and figure out why you had to later.
I'd say get the engine mounted, cobble together the minimally sufficient amount of wiring, and load up enough deep cycle batteries to get you to school.

Reminds me of when I bought a car once... "Dad, how do I get it home... there's no seat in it"
Dad:
"Find a good sized rock, cinder block, couple of bricks, milk crate, whatever... I've got stuff I gotta do, and don't have enough time to bring you a cushy butt-bumper."
I almost agree with this, though - because then you can still work on it while you're at school. Hell, you might just be able to recruit some other students to help you out, as well.

It would amuse me to see an Insight engine fitted with an emergency carburetor, but since you need the ECU to run the ignition system anyway, there's no point.
