That website might have 20% factual articles, but then why link to them if there were any alternative whatsoever. I suppose if there are no other sources to relay the same info, I might consider linking to them, but then I'd have to weigh the benefit of providing the rare useful link with the drawback of promoting a cesspool.

I have a negative bias because the site will literally remove a comment that points out things like "the law of the conservation of energy doesn't work that way". The culture and editors have no interest in understanding how the universe works, they simply want to spread a religious view.

Sorry, I thought you were talking about Tesla itself.

Have you guys discussed Rich Rebuilds? He and a downsized Tesla employee opened up an independent Tesla repair shop, which they are expanding from Rich's garage:

From what I understand, you can't get parts from Tesla unless you are in their network. I think he's going to be limited to adding aftermarket parts to a Tesla and fixing things that can be fixed without parts.

The story from EVTV two years ago was that because Massachusetts (IIRC) has a right-to-repair law, to get the service manuals you have to represent that you are (or be) from Massachusetts.

Manuals are one thing, but if a part is dead and Tesla won't sell you one, what do you do? Buy whole cars and part them out? Even then you have to convince your above average income customers used parts are good enough for your $50,000+ car. You also end up with piles of the parts that seldom break and backlog of the common problems just like the authorized repair shops.
At some point knock off Chinese parts will be made but I bet that takes a lot more cars off warranty.

Once the factory in China opens up, it won't even be knock-off Chinese parts. There will be gray market parts that undercut whatever Tesla sells 'em for, and probably have more availability too.

Rich is a great entertainer and Youtube personality. He should be pursuing that career instead of a repair shop, unless that shop is just a front for his entertainment business.

He might be great at fixing Tesla's, but probably because he's done it wrong (battery fire for instance) and learned. He probably enjoys working on them too.

His real talent is entertainment though. There's more value in his videos than him fixing some rando's door handle.

Maybe he has a business fixing Tesla's, but that should exist to serve the purpose of being entertaining.

It's like all those HGTV shows. They don't exist to fix up houses, flip them, or find a condo; they exist to entertain people.

Those shows seem specifically designed to give people false hope. "Five thousand to remodel my bathroom?! Pirates! I will do it myself!"

Ten thousand dollars later they hire the professional to fix their mistakes and then do the original work.

Home improvement shows exist to keep general contractors in business?
