Changing over to winter tires soon? Have you seen any snow yet?
We've had a couple of very light flurries, but nothing on the ground.

Haven't seen any snow yet. But I wan't to have my winter tires for December so I will take an appointment soon. I don't want to wait until December 15 which is the limit date to get your winter tire in Qc, because there is snow before this almost each year. Also to save the Potenza

What do you recommend for winter tires?

When I bought my Insight, it came on the winter tires, but there was no snow (bought May 8th). So I can't say if my Bridgestone Blizzak are good on snow. But after reading some reviews on the Internet and from other Blizzak users, they are really good quality tires, they also have alot more threadwear than the Potenza : 560 vs 260...
I tried to find my specific tires on the Internet and could not find them tho, so I don't know if they still do P165/65R14 for the other Blizzak tires...

Got the winter tires on, had a few flakes in the air today but there is more snow in a can of spray for a christmas tree. Over all the FE hit wasn't so bad when I had them at full PSI but I don't think the held the high PSI as it got worse after a few commutes. I always get them on early because I do it myself. I don't want to be out there in the cold when I need them, I'd rather do it when it's 10 degrees out.
Then I did a passenger mirror delete and finally finished my grid charger install. However I got a P1444 code with the grid charger, anyone else get that? I did a search over on insightcentral and it said it was probably a problem with the fan wiring, and sure enough disconect all the wires and the code didn't come back. Have either the + or the - of the fan connected (or both) and the code comes back. First trip to work after the mirror delete and grid charge and 16mpg more than my trip avg with the winter tires so far.
Turns out P1444 was from having a voltage meter that was causing the HV ground and 12v ground for the fan to allow leakage. Put in Diodes on both the ground wires to block the reverse flow when the car is on.

Glad to hear you're still enjoying the car. Almost makes me wish I drove more so I could have justified keeping it.
I ambushed the last local Insight owner at the gas station a few weeks ago. Original owner, ~350k kms on it, pretty beat up (even has aluminum corrosion coming through the paint in places). I still gave him my number and told him to call me if he ever decides to get rid of it... like I need another project!

I LOVE it! I was worried that I may need to get rid of it, but thankfully that passed. My mother in law wasn't liking the prius and was going to buy a fit which would leave me with the prius and insight, and as much as I love the insight, the prius makes more sense since I wouldn't need to have 2 cars with it. But she decided to keep it.
so here you go....
2000 Honda Insight 5 SPEED | AS IS | 1.0L | COME TEST DRIVE | - Oakville / Halton Region Cars For Sale - Kijiji Oakville / Halton Region Canada.
ironically if you did buy this one it's right by my house LOL.
Today I just finished up a warm air intake, and a test of the grid charger. I didn't charge last night and minimized any charging on the way to work, showed up with 3 or 4 bars, 9hrs on the charger when I leave and see what kind of SOC I get. I think to do what I want to do I'll have to grid charge 2x a day, at home and at work, but it would have been nice to do it only with free power at work.
I also ordered a IMAC&C pcb that I will attempt to build.
PS Trollinsight since we're hijacking your thread here's something that applies to you. I've noticed you plan the pass mirror delete. I just installed an ebay 300mm convex centre rear view mirror cover. I adjusted it so that the left side cuts off to look straight back giving pretty much all the advantage of the curve to the passenger side. I can see out about 50% of the passenger side window and the whole rear quarter window through it. If I let someone pass me on the right I can see the front bumper out of the corner of my eye while I can still see the rear of the car through the mirror.

No problem. Thank you very much for this info, I want to put an interior mirror to replace the exterior passenger mirror. But I don't know how to attach it for now. Maybe this could solve my problem .
Interested on your IMAC&C project.

It doesn't look like the easiest thing to build, mostly because the thread is 49 pages long and I'll have to sort through it all to find the info, plus source all the parts and get better at soldering. I'll probably need a new fine tip iron too. I also think I have to figure out how to program the chip and buy a programer.

I saw one, or actually he saw me. Right when I had started to go through a stop sign I hear someone lay on their horn, like full out sustained push, I freak, think I'll get T-boned but nope.... He was 2 cars back behind a larger truck in the oposite lane, hence why I didn't see him at first. He was waving franticly and smiling like a little kid as I drove by with my look of escaping unknown near death terror.
I use to see one that was missing a wheel cover around my work a few times, and so have other people I work with, but not since I got mine. Seeing that one every so often is what kept reminding me how I wanted one and to keep checking prices out of curiosity... which of coarse led to "have to have it" when I actually found one.

I saw my first the other day, I think it was originally a silver, but there was zero shine- it looked like it was in a sand waterfall for a month- and the doors were red. lol
I was SO excited to see them! They never caught up to me, or they were just entering the road to cross it and got off shortly after. I was really ecstatic, it made my day.
