This is so much better than the VW Beetle tricycle conversions.
My Clark Cortez motor home has single trailing arm rear suspension. It's such a rust bucket I should do the same thing with it—a reverse trike rat rod flatbed truck (technically, it would be a 'bobber').
Here is the Blackjack Avion
http://mobile.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&f=30&t=846569&i=20&mid=0&nmt=Stonele igh%202010%20pictures%20%28very%20pic%20heavy%29
It's the blue one. I recommend https://www.google.com/search?q=blac...avion&tbm=isch in general. There's tons of variety, Duval style windshields, Motoguzzi V-twins and &.
__________
I'd seen this one before, but not a shot where you can see there's no floorboard.
Looking at how that door skin was applied on the Aero-trike, I can see why he went with the camo paint scheme.

I'm thinking Deco-Citroen is an aero disaster, even if it were finished. Small frontal area tho'.
I suppose I should say why. Leading edges of greenhouse quite square and/or lumpy. Aft body appears to taper in too quickly, although I wouldn't want to try to predict the interaction between that area and the rear fenders. Open front wheels must lead to a dirty wake for a long way aft. Lots of flow hitting underhood obstructions and firewall. Hooky body surfaces that curve down.
V Below: Really cute as art; looks like you'd need to be headless to sit in it, or else tilt head waaay back and have zero vision out.

It's got taper in plan, but the rear fenders would be 'faster backwards'.
There is one that I didn't mention because the aerodynamics is even worse; but here it is:
http://ratrodsrule.com/forum/showthread.php?t=9160
The single leading arm front suspension is interesting. The engine was relocated to the rear, or they moved the steering to the back and reversed the body, or something.
That whole thread is full of 2CV rat rods, hood-rides, panels, woodies—even a flatbed truck. I like 'em.

That is wild! It addresses the Cg issue by extending the wheelbase.
And painted in a pixelated dazzle.

Agreed. I know someone sitting on a 4-passenger low-wing fuselage with the same intent.
It could be improved, by pie-cutting the lower rear door to roll the sill upward and inward, even a little. Also the contour goes all wobbly. If it had a curved tube to define the upper edge, it would be easier maintain the contour in an aerodynamically critical area. One could even drop the edge to help with ingress/egress.
See? It's easy to be a critic!
Edit: While I felt bad about putting that 2CV rat in the thread at #1333, I feel better about this one. The fit & finish and the lines are better:

I'd like it stretched a little through the doors, but at least it has them. The rat has a flip-up top.

Dodge Intrepid ESX (70 + mpg hybrid concepts)
Dodge Intrepid ESX - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
ESX I (1996)
Quote:
The second generation Dodge Intrepid appeared at the 1996 Chicago Auto Show in concept form. Called the Dodge Intrepid ESX, the dream car featured an all aluminum body and was constructed by Reynard Racing Cars in Great Britain. Ahead of its time in more than styling, it featured a hybrid propulsion system with a three-cylinder diesel and two electric motors for a combined rating of 245 horsepower.
|
ESX II (1998)
Quote:
The ESX II was dubbed a "mybrid" (mild hybrid) because its reliance on electrical power was not highly dependent on the battery. This system contained two motors that worked in parallel: a 1.5 L 74 bhp direct-injection diesel and a 20 bhp AC-induction electric motor. Coupled with the powertrains were a 5-speed electronically shifted manual transmission, a nickel-metal hydride battery pack, and controlling equipment which included components from the Patriot hybrid race-car program. The main power came from the diesel engine. The electric motor charged the batteries, added to the acceleration, and powered the reverse gear.
To cut down on cost and weight, Chrysler fit the car with an unpainted thermoplastic body attached to an aluminum frame. The shape had low aerodynamic drag. Inside, trim was constructed of carbon fiber and the seats were constructed from tube frame. The final cost: only $15,000 more than a regular Intrepid, or about $37,000.
|
ESX III (2003)
Quote:
The lightweight body uses injection-molded thermoplastics to achieve significant improvements in weight and cost. The ESX3 weighs in at just 2,250 pounds (1020 kg) while meeting all federal safety standards and providing the roominess and comfort of today's family sedan. The entire vehicle is more than 80 percent recyclable.
